Battle of the Books Champion Team Announced.

Congratulations to "Pi, the Next Generation," for  winning WMS's Battle of the Books Competition this year!  Pi represented WMS in the District-wide middle school battles against Jefferson, Reeves, Marshall, and Griffin Middle Schools on Thursday, March 28th.  "The Fab 5" from Reeves Middle School won this years' All-District battle, in sudden-death overtime against Jefferson Middle School.  WMS placed third overall.

What is Battle of the Books?

Team members collectively read all twelve titles handed down by the Battle of the Books committee.  Then, in game-show format, teams "battle" against each other, identifying the title of the book and the author of the clues given by the host.  In tournament style, winning teams advance until we have an All-School winner.  The Washington Middle School winner earns the right to battle against the winning teams from Griffin, Jefferson, Marshall, and Reeves middle schools.  The winning school captures the traveling trophy to take back to their school for the next year.
