The Young Reader's Choice Award (YRCA) is the oldest children's choice award in the United States and Canada, and the only regional award chosen by children of two countries. Each year students from Alaska, Alberta, British Columbia, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington vote on their favorite book from a pre-selected list. To qualify to be a voter, one must be a seventh or eighth grader who has read at least two books from the list of eight nominees. Voting each year takes place between March 15 - April 15. Students may obtain a ballot from their Block teacher. All votes from WMS students will be submitted to the YRCA committee by Mrs. Mathis. The winning book will be announced in mid-April.
