All concerts have a call time of 30 minutes prior to the concert. All concerts are a required part of the class except the Solo and Ensemble Festival, which is extra credit but highly encouraged. If for some reason you have a conflict with any of these dates, please let me know as soon as possible but at least two weeks prior to the performance to allow time to redistribute parts
.
Failure to attend a performance for other than illness or family emergency will result in a two grade drop of your achievement grade unless resolved before the particular concert. All members of the band are important and need to be at all concerts.

Concert Dress for Symphonic Band (8th Grade):
Guys: red blazer, white shirt, long black tie, black pants, black socks and dark shoes (dress).
Girls: white shirt, black pants, black socks or nylons and dark shoes (dress).

Symphonic and Concert Band members must have their concert dress available by October 29 as we will be in uniform for the first performance. If you need any help finding these items or help with funds, please do not hesitate to ask me. Cadet band members will not need their concert dress until December.

Concert Dress for Concert and Cadet Bands:
Guys: dress pants, open collar shirt and tie - no specific colors Girls: dress or skirt with nice top or dress pants with nice top - no specific colors

When you go to the page listed above, enter the code washington2005 in the appropriate box. You will be guided through the subscription process from there. Internet access is only needed twice during the year; once, to initialize the account on your computer and then at the end of the year to assess your use of their product to allow SmartMusic to pay royalties to composers.

 

Mr. Allison

Greg Allison, Washington Middle School Director of Bands, received his B.A. and M.A. in Music Education from Western Washington University where he studied trumpet with the late William D. Cole. Mr. Allison has taught instrumental music in the Olympia School District for 29 years. His bands have been chosen to perform at the State and Northwest Music Educators’ Conference and the Western International Band Clinic.



Mr. Allison has performed with the NW Wind Symphony and is a former member of the Tacoma Concert Band and Evergreen Brass Quintet. Mr. Allison has been a guest adjudicator, clinician, and guest conductor for state and regional festivals and conventions including the Mid-West Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago. He has also been the Band Curriculum Officer and West Vice President for the Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA). He was recently honored as the 2008 WMEA Middle Level Teacher of the Year.
