2007-2008 Supply List for Mrs. King's Introduction to Lab Science:

In addition to the general materials listed for WMS, please bring a pocket folder sometime during the first week of school to leave in the classroom.

6th Grade Earth Science--Periods 1, 2, 5, and 6

At Washington Middle School our 6th grade Earth Science program is divided into two parts. One semester of Introduction to Lab Science is taught by Pauletta King and one semester of Sci/Tech is taught by Marilyn Piper and Kathy Kinnaird. Students alternate teachers each quarter for a total of one semester of Sci/Tech and one semester of Introduction to Lab Science.

We will be studying rocks and minerals the first semester.

We will be studying volcanoes during the second semester.

7th/8th Grade Physical Science--Period 3

This physical science class of 7th and 8th graders is team taught by Pauletta King with Karla Strid. Students are placed in this class for a variety of reasons, and all students are recommended by previous teachers. It is a wonderful opportunity for students to have a smaller class, two teachers, and a mix of 7th and 8th graders. Lessons are aligned with the Grade Level Expectations.

It is our hope that by providing a smaller class, students are more able to ask questions, get the help they need to gain an understanding of science, and to truly enjoy the concepts being presented.

There is usually not a great deal of homework for this class, but please check your child's agenda daily. In class students fill agendas in each day. Much of the work in this class is in the form of labs that cannot be made up at home, so regular attendance will be very important.
