Computer 101 Class

All sixth graders will have the Computer 101 Class for one quarter during their sixth grade year.  The goal of this class is to give all students basic computer skills to enable them to be successful users of computers for school projects.  Keyboarding skills will be sharpened, using the Typing Club program.

This quarter students will learn:

  • How to save to their  drive folder
  • Computer command keys
  • Uploading images
  • The many uses of Google Docs
  • Using school e-mail
  • Improving "search" skills
  • Giving credit to your web source for projects
  • Anti-Plagiarism Skills
  • Creating Tables, Charts, or Graphs
  • Emphasis on Internet Safety
  • Emphasis on "digging deeper" in the programs you learn
  • Expand their repertoire of Tech Tools to use in projects
    • Google Docs

    • Comic Life
    • PowerPoint
    • Excel
    • Brochure or flyer
  • Creating a website (Weebly)
  • Posting projects to the website
  • Improved accuracy and speed in keyboarding
