Hybrid Information and Survey

Hello Washington families! We are excited to provide the opportunity for more students to begin the process of returning to on-site learning. We fully realize that this is a HUGE decision for all families and wanted to give you all as much information as possible to help guide your decision on whether your student(s) will return to the building in our hybrid model or continue with 100% remote learning. After reviewing the following information, please complete the survey to let us know what model you choose: 100% Remote Only, Hybrid - Cohort A, or Hybrid - Cohort B by clicking the survey here.Opening in a new window

As you read through this document here are some important items to consider:

  • ALL WMS students, regardless of model chosen, will attend the morning class sessions remotely for the remainder of this school year. In-person learning will take place in the afternoons with either Cohort A or Cohort B attending, which may include new learning, academic support and/or social-emotional learning.
  • Beginning on Monday, March 15th, all 6th-grade students that choose 100% Remote Only, all 7th-grade students, and all 8th-grade students will follow the 100% Remote Only class schedule. 6th-grade students that choose Cohort A or Cohort B will follow the Cohort A or Cohort B schedule.
  • Teachers will utilize Wednesdays to ensure that remote-only students have access to any instruction or support that was provided during Cohort A and B in-person times on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons.

Note from the health room

If you have received notification from our nurse, Connie Bloom, that your student’s vaccinations are out of compliance, please follow-up with her at cbloom@osd.wednet.edu. She can assist if you need help obtaining the vaccines. All students are required to be in full compliance to attend school in person.

Lunch

Due to secondary students attending in-person for afternoons only, all grab-and-go breakfasts/lunches will be distributed as students leave for the day, to be eaten at home the following day. Also, our existing meal sites will be in operation for students and families to pick up meals on days they are not attending or who are in 100% remote learning. There is no cost for student meals this school year.

For Students Choosing Cohort A and Cohort B (Hybrid Learning)

Arrival at School

  • If your student is not a bus rider, arrive no earlier than 15 minutes before class starts.
  • Walkers and bike riders may enter through the Cain Rd. OR Boulevard Rd. doors. For families dropping off or picking up use the Cain Rd. entrance.

Safety Protocols

The attestation process must be completed monthly through Parent Skyward/FamilyAccess.

  • Staff and students will have a daily temperature check upon arrival.
  • After entering the building, students go immediately to the classroom of their first class of the day.
  • Mask use is required at all times in the building. Masks will be available upon entering the building if needed.
  • Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the building.
  • Students are to stay 6 feet apart except for brief passing times.
  • Desks (which are appropriately distanced) will be cleaned between student use.
  • Restrooms are setup for social distancing.
  • Students may bring a water bottle for personal use. Drinking fountains will not be available.
  • Personal items will be carried throughout the day in backpacks - no hallway lockers will be available. Band lockers will be available in the band room for musical instruments.
  • All exterior doors will be locked throughout the day. Visitors/parents will only be allowed to use the main entrance after notifying the office staff using the exterior call button. Visitors/parents will also be required to complete a symptoms/temperature check as well as wear a mask.

In-Person Learning

  • Cohort A students will be in the building Monday and Thursday afternoons and Cohort B students will be in the building on Tuesday and Friday afternoons.
  • Starting March 15th, advisory for ALL students will take place only on Wednesdays from 9:25-10:15.
  • Teachers who are unable to be on-site for in-person hybrid learning will provide instruction and support remotely over Zoom to students in Cohort A and B in the afternoons on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. These Cohort students will be assigned to the cafeteria that will be supervised by an adult. It is recommended that these students bring headphones if at all possible.
  • The following is the current status of our teaching staff in regards to who will be teaching on campus and who will be teaching remotely. Updates will be sent to all families as this list changes.
