VISUAL ARTS at WMS

with Mrs. Holstrom

6th, 7th, and 8th grade students will have the opportunity to explore a variety of media including: tempera, acrylic and watercolor paint, graphite, colored pencil, clay, pastel and printmaking techniques.  Students will build skill to communicate ideas and feelings through visual images.

Course Objectives:

  • Develop skills, techniques, and processes in the visual arts
  • Understand and apply the elements of art: line, color, shape, form, texture, value, and space
  • Understand and apply art genres and styles of various artists, cultures, and times
  • Describe, analyze, interpret and evaluate art works
  • Communicate through visual art
