Clubs at WMS

 

Each year, our students generate most of the clubs offered at WMS. Some of the clubs are teacher generated.Here is a slideshow explaining how to start a club, what forms are needed, and how to join a club. Below are the clubs that have started this year or will be happening later this year. If there is not a starting date listed, that club is currently meeting.  

 

 

Pokemon Club

The Pokemon tree is where Pokemon fans can meet up and have fun. They can talk, trade cards, or just learn about Pokemon. Just bring your Pokemon cards and computers.

Meets: Thursdays 3:45-4:45pm in room 105

Advisor: Mrs. Perry

Magic - The Gathering Club

Join us in the library after school on Fridays to play. You can join anytime and use your own cards or borrow some of mine.

Meets:  Fridays 3:45-5:00pm in Library

 Art Club

The Art Club benefits WMS students by giving them an opportunity to draw and make friends who also like to draw.
Meets on Wednesdays from 8:00am to 8:50am, begins October 16th. Meets every other Wednesday
Advisor: Ms. Holstrom


CTE Club
A club for students to develop skills and knowledge in careers and technical education.
Meets on Wednesdays 7:50 am to 9:00am, begins October 9th. Meets every other Wednesday.
Advisor: Mr. Morris

 

Empower Club
A club for students of color to: find power within their own identity and develop strategies to navigate sticky situations, increase their knowledge of social justice, contribute positively to their school community, and build friendships and laugh at Ms. Arevalo’s jokes. All interested students are welcome to attend.
Begins after Fall Conferences
Advisors: Ms. Arevalo and Mrs. Jarmon


Dungeons and Dragons Club
In this club, students will play Dungeons and Dragons, a fantasy role-playing game. This club allows students to extend their friend groups while playing in a fun, inclusive setting.
Meets: Mondays, from 3:45-5:00pm in the library
Advisor: Mr. Wills 

 

 

Yapping about Young Adult Books
In preparation for high school, 8th grade students will read upper level young adult literature and discuss the books once a month. The books chosen will focus on social justice topics, and will be books WMS's teacher YAYA will or have read.
Meets last Wednesday of each month at 8:15 am
Advisor: Ms. Roloff

 

Jazz Band Club
Open to all 7th and 8th grade band students. Provides an opportunity for students to learn diverse musical styles and experience fun performances at school and around our community.
Meets on Tuesdays at 8:15 am
Advisor: Mr. Holder

 

 

Project Lit Book Club
Project LIT is a nationwide movement empowering readers, writers, and
leaders to promote a love of reading. 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will be
invited to join and select among many high-quality books, then discuss
them in a fun and welcoming environment.

Meets on first and third Wednesday of each month at 8:15 am
Advisor: Ms. Walters

 

Stock Market
Learn how to invest and understand the stock market. Compete in fun trading challenges and meet friends who share the same interests.
Meets in Room 108 on Thursdays from school 3:45pm to 5:00pm
Advisor: Mr. Bond

 

 

Composers Club
Learn how to compose music. Discuss music with students who share your interests.
Meets in Orchestra room on Tuesdays from 3:40 to 4:40
Advisor: Ms. Sartori
